Our Story
K&A Custom Fabrics and Hardware (formally Kimmy B's Custom Fabrics) was founded in 2020, by owner Kim and lead designer, Alix. During the pandemic both found themselves needing a career change that allowed them to be more present and available to their families. By teaming up, they created and grew Kimmy B’s Custom Fabrics and Hardware from the ground up. In the Fall of 2022, they became full business partners and thus created K&A Custom Fabrics and Hardware.

Hey all, I’m Kim and co-owner of K&A Custom Fabrics & Hardware. I am the wife to an amazing husband and mom to two incredible boys. Before starting K&A's, I was in customer service for 20 years. I was taught to sew at a young age by my aunt and my grandmother. Both have passed now, but my love of beautiful fabrics and creating something from nothing lives on. During the Pandemic, I became a mask maker and when my need required a graphic designer, I was lucky enough to meet and build a partnership and friendship with Alix.
Alix Laning
Co-Owner & Lead Designer​

I am Alix, co-owner and lead designer here at K&A's. I am married to my best friend and a mom to two amazing children and two fur babies. I was a dialysis nurse and have been an RN since 2012. I have always been into sewing and as a HS graduation present, my aunt (who is no longer here with us) bought me my first sewing machine, which I still use to this day. When the Pandemic happened, I quickly realized that I did not want to go back to nursing and started designing personally to make my daughter custom clothes. Along the way, I met Kim and we not only became business partners, but BEST FRIENDS!
Sarah Tavera
Assistant Designer & Fabric Associate

Hellooo errbody, I'm Sarah assistant designer and fabric associate at K&A's. I'm a mom to a sweet little boy and partner to my best friend. Before the Pandemic, I worked in customer service, where I was lucky enough to build a friendship with Kim. When she started K&A's. I was excited for the opportunity to work with a great friend and be more available to my family. My passions are books and anything that always me to let my creative spirit shine.
Kari Hubbert
Fabric Associate

Hello fellow weirdos. I'm Kari, a fabric associate at K&A's. I am the only lady in house of boys. I was in customer service for years and along the way became friends with Kim and Sarah. At the beginning of 2022, my partner was deployed, and I needed something more flexible for my kiddo. So, I joined the K&A team and enjoy working with my friends every day. I enjoy collecting dead bugs, bones, wheat pennies and rocks. I'm an artistic gal, who lives my life a bit off the beaten path.
